RAI/PRIVATE RADIOS (Start of full phase investigation)
PRESS RELEASE
The Italian Competition Authority decided to investigate into the failure by RAI-Radiotelevisione Italiana to notify the recent acquisition of eighty-four radio broadcasting facilities and related frequencies in order to create a network to broadcast the Parliamentary activity.
These acquisitions needed to be notified to the Authority, since the aggregate turnover of the companies involved exceeded the minimum threshold provided for by Law 287/90.
The investigation is to be concluded within five months and could impose an administrative fine on Rai, in compliance with Section 19 of Law no. 287/90.
