TELECOM ITALIA/PAGINE ITALIA: THE AUTHORITY HAS RESOLVED TO STAY PROCEEDINGS. THE MERGER HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN
At its meeting on 16 January 2003, the Competition Authority resolved to stay the proceedings relating to the Pagine Gialle/Pagine Utili merger, since the parties to it had withdrawn the operation.
The Authority had begun investigations into the Telecom Italia and Pagine Italia companies (the parent companies of Pagine Gialle and Pagine Utili, respectively) on 5 December 2002, since the merger appeared likely to strengthen Telecom Italia's dominant position on the national advertisement market for trade yearbooks and telephone directories.
