ANTITRUST AUTHORITY APPOINTS LUIGI FIORENTINO NEW SECRETARY GENERAL
As of tomorrow, Luigi Fiorentino will take over the post of Secretary General of the Italian Competition Authority. He was appointed by the Industry Minister, Pier Luigi Bersani, at the suggestion of the Authority's Chairman, Antonio Catricalà.
Fiorentino, who from 10 March 2005 to the present has been the Antitrust Authority's Chief of Cabinet, was born in Paternopoli on 9 October 1959; he graduated in law and completed a Diploma in Administrative Law and Administrative Science at the University of Naples.
Head of Department for Human Resources in the Prime Minister's Office from 2004 until 2005, he was previously Director of the Central Office for General Affairs and Organization at the Finance Ministry where he also fulfilled the role of Chief of Cabinet for Treasury Ministers Ciampi and Amato. He was General Superintendent of the State from 2000 to 2001. He has
written on various subjects in the area of administrative law and is a contributor to numerous specialist publications. He lectures on methods and models for the organization and management of public administration in the Faculty of Management Engineering at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and since June 2006 has been the coordinator of the monitoring unit on outsourcing within the Istituto di Ricerche sulla Pubblica Amministrazione [Public Administration Research Institute] – IRPA.
He was Jemolo Fellow at Nuffield College in Oxford.
