PAOLO TROIANO NAMED NEW CHIEF OF CABINET OF ANTITRUST AUTHORITY



Paolo Troiano is the new Chief of Cabinet of the Italian Competition Authority.
Troiano, born in Florence on 8 December 1967, is a State Councillor and from 11 March 2005 until the present has been Under-Secretary General in the Prime Minister's Department.
He graduated cum laude from the University of Rome with a thesis on consumer protection and was appointed by open competition to the post of State Procurator, a position he held from 1993 until 1998. Subsequently he served on the TAR [Regional Administrative Tribunal] for Apulia and, from 1998 until 2000, was State Advocate. He twice won competitions for appointment as State Councillor and since 2000 has served on the Council of State, of which he has been Representative Secretary.
He is the author of numerous publications and from 1997 until 2003 was Visiting Professor of Civil Law II in the Faculty of Law at the Terza Università degli Studi di Roma [Rome's Third University].
In 2003 and 2004 he represented Italy in the working group on administrative law at the Council of Europe.
