Antitrust Authority turns 20:
celebratory 20th anniversary initiatives
launched on Thursday, January 21st

The Antitrust Authority is preparing to celebrate its first 20 years of activity. Next October 10th marks the 20th anniversary of the Antitrust Authority, which was brought into being by law 287 of October 10th, 1990. A conference (which will be held on January 21st) entitled “Convergence in the electronic communications sector. The competitive landscape of networks, services and content: competitive profiles from an international perspective” is the first in a series of initiatives being scheduled by the Board under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic in order to showcase how Antitrust policy has accompanied the economic and social life of our Nation over the last two decades.
The program is rich in conferences and seminars (an average of two per month) on Authority-related issues. The schedule is available on the www.agcm.it website and will be updated on a regular basis.
In addition, Minister Scajola has already approved President Antonio Catricalà's proposal to have a commemorative series of postal stamps issued in honor of the Antitrust Authority.
The final Conference on October 11th (the 10th falls on a Sunday) will include a public exhibition of photographs documenting the various changes in Italian society that can be traced to the work of the Antitrust Authority. The goal is to help give citizens a fuller appreciation of the impact of Authority rulings on concrete aspects of daily life.
