ANTITRUST INVESTIGATION AND INSPECTIONS WITH THE FINANCIAL POLICE (GUARDIA DI FINANZA) ON FOUR COMPANIES IN THE CEMENT SECTOR

The Italian Antitrust Authority has opened an investigation on four leading Italian companies that produce and sell cement. These include the companies Buzzi Unicem, Cementir Italia, Industria Cementi Giovanni Rossi and Holcim Italia.

The investigation concerns the possibility of a horizontal agreement that had taken place in violation of Article 101 TFUE by coordinating price increases in the sale of cement.

In order to establish these circumstances, on 25 and 26 November officials of the Italian Antitrust Authority carried out a series of inspections in the offices of the companies involved, the trade association AITEC and other companies that operate in the same sector with the help of the special Antitrust Unit and of the Unit for Technological Fraud of the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza).
