FIVE INVESTIGATIONS LAUNCHED ON TELESELLING (SALES BY PHONE): INSPECTIONS IN ROME AND MILAN

The Competition and Market Guarantor Authority has launched – on the strength of the new powers in the field of Consumer Rights allocated by Legislative Decree No. 21/2014 – five investigation proceedings against Fastweb S.p.A., Vodafone Omnitel B.V., Telecom Italia S.p.A., H3g S.p.A. and Sky Italia S.r.l., concerning the procedures for concluding contracts of landline and mobile phone and pay-per-view satellite TV services through teleselling. The proceedings postulate a possible infringement of the new legislative provisions in force since 13 June 2014, which introduce specific formalities as regards the validity of sales by phone. To that end, inspections have been conducted at the premises of companies based in Rome and Milan with the help of the Antitrust Group of the Special Market Protection Unit attached to the Italian Financial Police.
