PRESS RELEASE

FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE “ANTITRUST MAGAZINE” STUDY MEETING IN THE ICA AUDITORIUM

The first anniversary of the “Italian Journal of Antitrust” publication was celebrated during a conference, attended by some of the best-known practitioners and academics in the field, which took place in the ICA Auditorium in Rome. It was an opportunity to discuss the most recent and significant developments in the field of competition. A year since its release, the Journal – produced in electronic format every four months – has already reached 13 000 views, as announced by Prof Moavero Milanse who directs the publication together with Prof Giovanni Pitruzzella and Prof Piero Barucci.

Opened by a greeting from the Antitrust President Pitruzzella, who underlined the importance of a dialogue at European and international level on these issues, the conference ran on the “keynote speech” of Richard Whish, Professor Emeritus at King’s College London.  In his speech, Whish has shown and discussed a series of case studies to illustrate the development of the antitrust “policy”: from “cartels” to competition restrictions, from vertical restraints to the abuse of dominant position.

This was then followed by a panel discussion on “Recent developments in the field of competition protection”, co-ordinated by Prof Piero Barucci, with the participation of Prof Gustavo Ghidini, Mario Libertini, Gustavo Olivieri, Maria Alessandra Sandulli and lawyers Piero Fattori, Mario Siragusa, Claudio Tesauro.
