DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM – ICA CONVENTION ON NEW CONSUMER RIGHTS

Between smartphone, tablet, social networks, app and everything else, more or less all of us live in a “digital ecosystem”. The start of the XXI century was marked by the explosion of the potential offered by the internet that has significantly contributed to the advent of so-called globalisation. This resulted in new forms of communication, of work and of life, that have also generated a new economy.

It is in this context that the ICA has promoted, together with the Italian Academy of the Internet Code (IAIC), a conference to analyse market trends, welfare and consumer protection, even in view of the recent regulatory changes to Community law.  The meeting will be held on 14 May (14:30) at the headquarters of the Authority in Rome, on the occasion of the publication of the book The new consumer rights, edited by Prof Alberto Gambino and lawyer Gilberto Nava: it is a reasoned and analytical commentary of the provisions of the amended Consumer Code that, after the implementation of the “Consumer Rights” Directive, aims to provide different stakeholders a concrete interpretation and application of the new legislation.  The debate also coincides with the launch of the second edition of the Masters in Competition Law and Innovation organised by the Luiss Guido Carli University and the European University of Rome, under the direction of Professors Gustavo Olivieri and Gustavo Ghidini.

Chaired and moderated by Commissioner Gabriella Muscolo, the conference will be opened by Giovanni Pitruzzella, President of the Antitrust Authority.  Apart from Prof Paul Nihoul (University of Louvain) and the Parliamentarian Stefano Quintarelli (Civic Choice), numerous scholars and experts will attend.

Free entrance (via Monteverdi, 35 – Rome).  It is necessary to obtain accreditation at the following address: [email protected].
