INVESTIGATIONS INTO THREE SHIPPING COMPANIES TO AND FROM SARDINIA
The ICA has launched an investigation into Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione, Moby and Onorato Armatori with the aim to ascertain an alleged abusive conduct carried out by companies belonging to the group Onorato Armatori in the sea freight sector to and from Sardinia.
The proceedings concern an abuse of dominant position allegedly carried out by Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione and Moby, infringing article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). The conduct allegedly hinders the operativeness of a competing company in various ways, threatening competitiveness in the sea freight sector.
In the past days, the ICA has been carrying out a series of inspections at the premises of the companies involved in the proceedings in order to ascertain the circumstance. Investigations are being carried out also at the premises of a shipping company deemed in possession of useful related information. The ICA is operating with the aid of both the Special Unit and the Technological Frauds Unit of the Guardia di Finanza.
