Investigation opened into the Notary Council of Milan
PRESS RELEASE
The Italian Competition Authority (ICA) has opened an investigation into the Notary Council of Milan to ascertain an alleged agreement restricting competition. In particular, through a series of conducts, the Notary Council would have sought to induce the notaries of the district to limit their activity quantitatively, thus restricting competition between them and ultimately leading to a sharing of the market and a restriction of price competition, in breach of Article 2 of Law No. 287/90.
In the past few days the officers of the ICA have carried out inspections at the headquarters of the Notary Council of Milan with the help of the Special Antitrust Unit of Guardia di Finanza in order to gather evidence.
