PRESS RELEASE

Yesterday the Authority hosted in its premises the conference "Women in Competition - Antitrust Policy in the Digital Age", to discuss the development of the digital economy and the new challenges for competition policy and antitrust enforcement. The collection and use of Big Data and zero price markets raise issues that stand on the intersection between antitrust, consumer protection and privacy, while the speed of technological change makes it more complex to intervene for antitrust authorities as wells as legislators intending to propose solutions that do not chill innovation while at the same time limit the impact on consumers and businesses.

The event was opened by President Rustichelli and saw the participation of the British Ambassador in Italy, Jill Morris, and the Authority’s Board Member Gabriella Muscolo. Andrea Coscelli, CEO of the UK competition authority, closed the conference.

The event was organized jointly with the British Embassy in Italy and the Italian section of Women@Competition, a network of antitrust professionals from various areas (academia, law firms, competition authorities, courts and private sector).
