ICA: consumer awareness campaign launched
The initiative, funded by the Ministry of Economic Development, will end in September 2021. The communication campaign also includes roadshows and training meetings for young consumers and SMEs
What rights do consumers have? Who can you contact to report an unfair commercial practice? To find out an answer to these and other questions on the subject, the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato has launched the #convienesaperlo campaign, financed via the Fondo per le iniziative a favore dei consumatori (Fund for consumer initiatives) of the Ministry of Economic Development, established by art. 148 of Law 388/2000.
ICA, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is tasked with collecting reports of unfair commercial practices from citizens and now aims to increase awareness about consumer rights.
The contents of the campaign, undertaken together with the Ministry of Economic Development, will be developed starting from the dedicated website convienesaperlo.it and the radio and TV commercials and will then also be featured on the social channels of the ICA (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube) and on the purposefully created Instagram profile @convienesaperlo. There will also be space to train young consumers through meetings and lessons in high schools and universities to inform them about consumer rights, protection tools and the duties of the Ministry of Economic Development and the AGCM in this field.
The training activity will continue with meetings and conferences for small and medium-sized enterprises at conference centres, chambers of commerce and trade associations to also inform them about the obligations of SMEs to ensure consumer rights under Italian law, starting with the Consumer Code. The dissemination route of #convienesaperlo will end in a roadshow with three stops to provide information on the campaign and the results achieved to a wide audience of stakeholders, companies and citizens.
