At its meeting on Wednesday, 1 April 2020, in consideration of the particular moment, the Authority approved a communication on the interpretation of Article 103 of Decree Law no. 18 of 17 March 2020, in relation to the terms of proceedings and the terms of payment of penalties.

In particular, it should be noted that, in the field of competition, the payment deadlines for penalties expiring in the period from 23 February to 15 April 2020 are extended to 1 October 2020.

For consumer protection penalties, payment of which, according to the provisions of Article 27, paragraph 13, of the Consumer Code, must be made within thirty days of the notification of the measure, the enforcement period is suspended and will start to run again at the end of the suspension.

For both competition and consumer protection penalties for which payment by instalments has been granted, the terms for the payment of the instalments falling in the period from 23 February to 15 April 2020 shall be suspended.
