The training meeting for SMEs is part of the “Convienesaperlo” communication campaign

The training meeting "Consumer and SME Rights", organised by the Italian Competition Authority and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development as part of the "Convienesaperlo" communication campaign, was held this morning.

The online and free of charge event was led by the Director of “Milano Finanza” Roberto Sommella and the following took part in it: Giovanni Calabrò, General Director of the Italian Competition Authority for Consumer Protection; Massimo Ferrero, head of the Directorate for consumer protection for the communication, finance and insurance, mail and real estate sectors; Orietta Maizza, head of the Policies, regulations and projects for consumers division of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.

During the meeting – which was also attended by: Mauro Pagani, head of industrial policies at CNA, Francesco Napoli, vice-president of Confapi, Carlo Massoletti, member of the Confcommercio Confederal Council, Giuseppe Dell 'Aquila, head of the legislative office of Confesercenti - the speakers could clarify the status quo of the legislation on the activities of small and medium-sized enterprises to protect consumers' rights - in particular in online purchases - and avoid incurring sanctions imposed by the ICA. The associations then drew the attention to the requests for intervention that most often come from member companies and illustrated the initiatives undertaken to help consumers buy more safely.

Director Calabrò highlighted that today's event was part of the month of financial education, pointing out that in all sectors today the institutions are called to illustrate to companies and citizens the activities effectively carried out to protect them, also in order to make them aware of their rights. In this sense, in recent years, the ICA has been making a great educational and information effort, of which the "Convienesaperlo" campaign is only a piece.

In the last part of the event, the participants were able to ask some questions to the experts of the Italian Competition Authority and Ministry of Economic Development and to the representatives of the associations.
