At the proposal of President Roberto Rustichelli, the Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti appointed Guido Stazi as Secretary General of the Italian Antitrust Authority. This is the first time, in the thirty-year history of the institution, that an internal director has been appointed as Secretary General. Mr. Stazi has been a member of the Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (Italian Antitrust Authority) since it was established in 1990; in 2005 he was appointed Chief of the President’s Cabinet of AGCOM (the Italian telecommunications regulator) and was then Secretary General of CONSOB (the Italian Securities and Exchange Commission) until 2018. More recently, he returned to the Antitrust, as head of the Economic Evaluations Committee. He was a lecturer of Economics and Competition Policy at the Faculty of Economics and Banking of Siena University. He has published many papers and books dealing with antitrust, regulation and the digital economy issues.
