According to the Authority, the two companies collaborated on pricing strategies to be submitted to the national retail chains for the sale of their chips.

The Italian Competition Authority, following a report received through its whistleblowing platform, has launched an investigation against Amica Chips and Pata for an alleged restrictive agreement on competition concerning the production and marketing of private label crisps produced for retail chains. According to the Authority, the two companies would have coordinated to share customers between them, thus maintaining prices at an over-competitive level.

Yesterday the officials of the Authority, with the help of the Special Antitrust Unit of the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza), carried out inspections at the main offices of the parties involved, as well as at another entity deemed to possess useful elements for the investigation.
