Legality rating
The Legality Rating was introduced by Article 5-ter of Law Decree 1/2012 to promote the adoption of ethical corporate practices. It is awarded by the Italian Competition Authority.
The granting of the Rating requires compliance with high standards of legality and recognises transparent, ethical and responsible business management. It promotes competition based on merit and supports compliance with rules and the improvement of quality standards among companies operating in the market.
Companies holding a Legality Rating may benefit from advantages in accessing resources and opportunities in both the public and private sectors in Italy.
Eligibility
The Legality Rating may be requested by companies (including sole traders) that meet all of the following requirements:
- operational headquarters in Italy;
- a minimum turnover of €2 million in the financial year preceding the application;
- entry in the Companies Register for at least two years prior to applying;
- compliance with the other substantive requirements set out in the Regulation.
